Since the bombings on Alderran, the morgue of its best and largest teaching hospital had become a busy place for Jess. She couldn't remember a time since she had started working there that she felt as rushed and tired as she did now. Of course, all the victimes of the attack had already been dealt with and processed, but there was still the matter of dealing with family identifications and paperwork after that as well as aiding with the ongoing police investigation when it was neeeded. The extra work was creating something of a backlog that Jess was working overtime to clear - after all the needs of the rest of the deceased couldn't take a back seat - at least not according to Jess' work ethic. The one good thing about the work load though was that it really have her the chance to utalize the assistants she was training. She never gave them anything too official to do of course, they needed her supervision for things like that. But putting them in charge of admitting new cases and sorting out the files ready for her was simple enough, and took some of that work load from her shoulders.
What didn't help however, was the distraction the bombings had unwittingly brought along with it. She seemed to constantly find her mind wandering since one particular evening, and for the most absurd reason too. She'd had a rather eventful close down of the morgue recently, when one Aldric Cibre had decided to get himself locked into the morgue after hours - not knowing she was still working there. The encounter had ended with his busted nose and him being spirited away to a jail cell. Something Jess had felt a little proud of at the time it happened, but on reflection had felt a little extreme once it had all calmed down again. So much so that she had followed shortly after to get him released. The man had been arrogant and pushy, extremely rude and demanding...but there was something about him that intrigued her. He was different, extremely intelligent and nothing like anyone she had ever met before. She couldn't put her finger on it, and since he left she couldn't help but think of it...of him. She wanted him to come back, to let her see a little more of who he was and what it was he did. Though considering she had smashed him in the nose with a specimen bowl she wouldn't be surprised if he didn't return or simply continued to sneak in after hours when there was less risk of running into her.
She gave a frustrated groan as she sat at her desk, putting her pen down as once more her thoughts had wandered, causing her to loose previous work time. She'd never had this problem before, there had never been anyone in her life who caught her attention so badly. It was rather irritiating and frustrating. Jess shook her head and glanced to see what the time was, deciding to get some lunch and re-focus her head. She locked the datapads away that she was working on and headed through the morgue to collect her purse and jacket.
