@bastila
The Death Star had quite literally just been finished. Only hours ago it had been announced that they were as on schedule as they would ever be. It had been twenty years thanks to all of the many countless set backs the construction of the Death Star, but today was the day it would be fully armed and operational. Those Rebel Scum who had caused so many set backs would soon learn their lesson, and leave the station be... the Empire's iron fist would finally be complete and none would challenge it.
At least that had been the plan.
One moment Tarkin was on the bridge of the Death Star, ready to give the order to use the first test fire on the planet below. Despayre was the world that the Death Star had finally been finished over, though it wasn't the first planet that construction had begun on. It's inhabitants were nothing more then Wookie slaves that had been assigned to finishing the construction of the planet killer. To insure there was no further information leaks, none of the slaves were removed from the world... the celebration of the Death Star's completion would be marked with the test fire...
Tarkin never gave the order though. Instead he found himself blinking himself awake on the ground... it not being the cold metal floors he had been walking upon earlier though. He was pushing himself to his feet again, looking around and it was soon that he realized where he was. He was on the very planet he had been about to destroy. Why he wasn't quite sure, but one possibility that ran through his mind was that someone stunned him on that bridge and sent him to the planet below. That of course was something he quickly denied, knowing his sudden disappearance (though something many would like to see) would be impossible to convince people of... including Palpatine.
It didn't matter at the moment anyway. He needed to get off the planet before the Death Star fired it's massive weapon.. though the fact it hadn't been blown up already told him that perhaps the Death Star's weapon was flawed... giving him time to escape.
Or perhaps it was just gone? Tarkin had been traveling for a while now when he came to that conclusion, but what he was noticing as he tried to figure out where specifically on the world he was, was that he didn't see one thing in the sky that should have been very visible. The Death Star should have been above his head, but it wasn't. Not matter where he looked it was gone, and he couldn't determine where it could have been. What else was strange was that it was harder to find any slave camps on this world any more, when they should have been everywhere from what he had remembered on his inspections.
Already Tarkin was beginning to think something was out of place when he finally arrived in the most populated areas of the slave areas. The shipyard which most of the business of the world was done in, and which Tarkin hoped to find himself a ship to get off the world before it was supposed to be destroyed. If not, someone had some serious answering to do.

The name of the planet suited it only too well. Bastila stepped off the small starfighter she'd arrived in, grey eyes taking in the sad, desperate scenery. The ground was dry and cracked, the land as pained and miserable as its inhabitants. Horuz was a jungle-like area, but an old Jedi holocron had been spotted on it. And since the primary plans of the Jedi these days was to retrieve the holocrons, Bastila had been sent to find this one. There had been a lot of arguing between her and the man who owned the hangar she'd landed in. It took a four attempts at the Jedi mind trick, thirteen blasters pointed at her, and fifty credits to finally convince him to let her wander the planet and leave her ship in the hangar.
What a strange place to have Customs, Bastila mused as she finally got out into the main part of the town. She was glad she had her lightsaber and Jedi robes concealed beneath a thick cloak. She had a feeling the people inhabiting this planet would not take well to a Jedi. She was grateful for the extra warmth as well; Horuz was cold.
Bastila stepped out into the small town, watching the poorly dressed people rushing around. Every face she looked at was sad and pained, and the Jedi felt a wave of compassion for these unfortunate people. It didn't take a lot of observation for Bastila to realize exactly what was going on here. The sadness turned to anger. Slaves... that was too much even for her. She pulled her hood up over her head, her face falling into shadow to hide the growing fury. She was going to free these people. But she knew she certainly couldn't do it right now. She needed the holocron, this way she could plan a way to help as many slaves escape as possible. Or would it be wiser to return to the Jedi Council with this news?
She didn't have much time to muse on it, as she spotted a figure coming up from the forest and to the town gates. Strange. His appearance and gait was unlike anyone else Bastila had encountered on the planet. His clothes were different as well; his expression was the most worrisome thing about him. Turning her gaze from the stranger, she continued toward a place she had been told she could rent a speeder.

It was hardly any trouble at all for Tarkin to make his way through the most heavily over grown areas of the jungle. It seemed as well that the wildlife was allowed to run rampant, possibly a way to keep the slaves where they belonged. It wasn't of concern to Tarkin, making sure work of any beast that tried to ambush him in his venture to the small town of slaves that was still there. He wondered why things seemed so different. Was he on the opposite side of the planet then that of the one he had previously visited? No, that couldn't be right, the rotation seemed correct.
The more questions he asked, the more it began to seem as though this world itself had changed somehow. He even noticed at one point that certain plant life was in different phases then it had been when he last checked on the progress of the world... meaning it was a different time of the year entirely. How was that even possible though? More and more questions piled in his mind, and he had fewer and fewer answers for them. Finally he was arriving on the edge of the small town, seeing everything in order... there was little confusion to be seen on any of the faces he was observing, but rather the concern and pain that they must have felt on a daily basis. Tarkin's expression was growing less confused and more furious now...
Not only was his ultimate battle station missing, but everything else besides that seemed to make little sense. No matter, he still had the authority to acquire any ship of his choosing. The Emperor would hear of this, and it would be less then a standard cycle before the Death Star was tracked down, and back under Tarkin's control. Anyone in his way; especially those responsible for this outrage, would be turned into an example, as would any other planet that dared to side with the Rebellion. Once and for all, the Empire would stand unchallenged...
At least that's what Tarkin had in mind.
There was a cloaked figure leaving the docking bay, this was perfect timing on her part, as Tarkin approached her before she could be away. "You there!" He called, adding without actually letting her address herself in any fashion. "I am hereby ordering you to escort me to your ship, and secure a communication to Coruscant and the Senate." Tarkin ordered. Assuming she was just a civilian wearing a cloak, it was clear by the badge he wore that he outranked her, and legally he could take ownership of her vehicle of he chose to. She would be better off in more ways then one though to accept his demand and comply though.
It was slightly ironic though if Tarkin did have to say so himself. The Death Star's purpose was to defeat the need for a Senate by securing total power over the galaxy. Fear and subjection. Yet here he was asking to be put in touch with them so he could find it in time to act on those plans.

"I am not paying seventy credits an hour to rent that piece of rubbish!" Bastila argued to the swoop bike trader.
"Take it or leave it, lady," he replied irritably, glaring at her despite the somewhat intimidating glare in her eyes.
"It's theft!" Bastila argued. The man shrugged, and turned his attention back to a datapad. His body language was clear: If you're not paying, it's time to go.
The Jedi's eyes narrowed, her hand subtly moving across just slightly above her waist. "You want to rent me a swoop bike for fifty credits an hour," she said, her voice taking on a different tone. The man's eyes went glassy.
"I want to rent you a swoop bike for fifty credits," he said.
"That seems like a fair deal," Bastila said, her tone switching to a sarcastically friendly voice. Just as they were sealing the deal and the man was giving Bastila the key code for the bike, a voice called out, startling her.
"You there!"
She glanced up, and spotted the strange man in uniform from before approaching her. She opened her mouth, already forming words, but the man didn't even give her the chance. Her mouth closed, a crease forming between her brow in a scowl as the man started throwing orders at her. Orders.
"You had best "hereby order" someone else," she said irritably, the scowl deepening and quickly switching to anger at being spoken down to. "I don't know what authority you think you have, but it doesn't apply to me." She crossed her arms, studying his uniform more. It didn't look Republic. It was more Imperial looking, though not exactly what Bastila remembered. Judging by the tattered marking on the uniform, she suspected he was an officer of some sort. Maybe that was why he thought he could order her around. She wasn't one of his underlings though. In fact, she was a commander. Well, had been. Now she was a Jedi Knight, having no Endar Spire to command. But she still had equal authority to him. Probably.
He still had no right to speak to her like that.
"I have better things to do than let you on my ship," Bastila snapped, and with that, turned her back on the stranger and stomped to her waiting swoop bike. It really hadn't even been worth fifty credits an hour, she thought grumpily. But her conscience prevented her from tricking the man too much. Hopefully she would have enough credits for the trip.

Tarkin almost instantly paused and arched his brow now as the woman replied so drastically to him. Did this fool not know who he was? He had to admit it was odd that she wasn't a slave and certainly wasn't one of the imperial slave drivers, but of all the things that had been strange and out of place, perhaps that wasn't one of the worst ones. At any rate he ignored that for the moment, listening to her before she was explaining she had better things to do, something he highly doubted. Anything she was doing on this planet; at least as far as Tarkin was concerned, wasn't important.. the planet wouldn't be here long anyway.
"I highly doubt that you either outrank me, or have anything more important. It is literally of life and death. I am Grand Moff Willhuff Tarkin, governor of the Outer Rim Territories." He explained, displaying his rank as one of the highest possible in any military. He was almost certain there was no way this woman had an equal or greater rank then he did. With that out of the bag he continued to look to her, waiting for her to turn around, his eyebrow arched as if waiting for her to come up with something in reply, almost arched in challenge to her.
"Allow me to be more clear. You can aid me, or i will confiscate your ship with legal Military authority." Tarkin added after a moment, his hands behind his back as he waited on her to reply. She could stay on this planet and die for all he cared. Without actually waiting for any kind of a reply from her though he was turning on his heels and moving towards the docking bay... he was sure no one there would refute his rank and would in effect allow him access to her ship...
