APPEARANCE
Height: 6 feet even
Weight: 175 lbs

Hair: Grey
Overall Appearance:
Wilhuff Tarkin is a tall and imposing figure, his mere presence usually being met almost instantly with respect. His angular face and narrow eyes are more then capable alone to stare down foes and strike some kind of sense of his superiority into those around him. Despite his age, he is also physically fit (though not as spry as he used to be, granted), something that you can tell just by looking at him. His features show this age as well, his once tight face now sagging noticeably.
His uniform is the dark grey that belongs to many Imperial officers. His ranking badge sits on his left breast, and the uniform itself is always kept neat and clean. His tight, black, near knee-high boots are polished to a shine, and his grey (perhaps thinning, though still thick) Hair is always combed back over his crow like head.
PERSONALITY
If one word had to be used to describe this man, it would likely be Materialistic. He was raised in what most consider to be Military type family, though prominent, he always had to fight for what he needed. Love, wasn't really something his family ever even considered, everything they did was for stature or wealth... and raising young Tarkin fell into that same pattern. As such, he treats others in a similar way, never giving something that wasn't earned.
He prides himself on his stature, and often uses intimidation as his favored technique when it comes to anything as simple as bartering or as complex as negotiations. If he has the might within his means to take something from someone, he will... forget asking. He also demands attention and respect from those around him, everything he does being extravagant. Tarkin has a way with words as well, no matter what he says can be considered elegant... even insults given straight to your face (as most of his are).
BACKGROUND
Planet Origin: Eriadu
Starting Planet: N/A
Era Origin: Rise of the Empire
History:
He was born into a wealthy family... the planet of his origin's being Eriadu; which his family had played a crucial role with fore generations. Some even consider the Tarkin family name to be the planet's very legacy, it is as if his family owned the world. Being born into such a role caused his childhood to be anything but easy as many would think. Most outsiders might think that Young Wilhuff had everything he needed just handed to him, however the truth of the matter was that he had to earn everything. Something that taught him at an early age that anything worth your while was something worth fighting for. It also taught him to be selective about what he needed... exerting effort only in things that were truly important.
Joy was an emotion that; at least in the traditional sense, was exempt from his childhood. He only gained joy in small victories in which he earned the things that he had fought for, often times at the expense of someone elses failure.
It was family tradition for his uncle and other members of his family to take Wilhuff on Family trips... though they were far from something as simple as a vacation. They were survival tours and expeditions... often boarded with tests of Wilhuff's endurance and skill... one of which he passed when he outsmarted the wildlife of the world on occasions. Six months after passing this test, a sixteen year old Wilhuff Tarkin moved on from his grueling survival training to space combat training. His training posed very real threats in space as well, where he used his combat training and hunting skills to counter and maneuver his foes, such as pirates and outlaws to where he wanted them.
Joining Eriadu's security force that acted as it's protection without a Republic Military, Tarkin made a name for himself with his tactic in battle and specifically his brutality. The even that gained him this reputation was when he outwitted and captured pirates, sending them on a slow course into a sun. He didn't stop with that though, but used the opportunity to broadcast the situation to the rest of the pirates that were in league with the ship, capturing and destroying the ones that came to their rescue.
After his time there, he secured himself a place in the Sullust Sector Spacefarers Academy. There he Met a Senator from Naboo by the name of Palpatine, who was impressed with Tarkin's skill. Palpatine then secured Wilhuff with a spot in the Republic Judicial Academy, though was also offered a position in politics that he didn't accept at the time. After his entrance in the Academy, Tarkin actually found it hard to fit in, often finding himself in many brawls and fist fights with fellow students.
Tarkin's name continued to grow with each mission, but it was one particular mission involving Jedi Knights that really began to spur his career, as he had taken command of the forces and guided them to their objective through a dangerous wilderness. He was rewarded for his work, but it was also around this time that he did heed Palpatines council and started to pursue a career in Politics.
When the Clone Wars began, Tarkin found himself the head of many operations, spearheading many missions personally that got the Clone wars started.
During one of the battles, Tarkin found himself under the command of Jedi Master Evan Piell, in a battle that was supposed to end with them regaining coordinates to the Nexus Route. This strategically important Hyperspace route that could allow Republic Ships into Separatist space without their knowledge, or vise versa if the Separatists got their hands on the information. Tarkin memorized half of the information related to the mission, and Piell memorized the other half before wiping it from the ship's memory. When they were captured, it insured their survival, as the Separatists needed the information as well. They were imprisoned in one of the highest class prisons in the Galaxy... but were saved by Jedi Generals Kenobi and Skywalker.
It was during this time also that Tarkin first met with Ahsoka Tano... someone who would be a target in the near future. It was this time also that Skywalker and Tarkin found that they did share some beliefs, despite Anakin's Jedi teachings.
Nearing the end of the War, Tarkin had climbed in rank significantly, becoming an Admiral in the military fleet now, but he found himself stepping outside of the war for a short time after the Jedi Temple Bombing. Tarkin attended the funeral of those killed in the bombing, but his intention was only to insure that the prisoner responsible for it was transferred from the Jedi Temple to the Republic Military prison. Tarkin was also responsible at this time for being the one who informed Ahsoka Tano that she was wished to be seen by the accused as her last request.
When it appeared that Ahsoka killed the prisoner, Tarkin personally arrested her. Ahsoka did escape the prison though, but Tarkin continued to lead the forces assigned to recapture her. When she had been recaptured, things only looked worse for her, and Tarkin motioned for Ahsoka Tano to be expelled from the Jedi Order, something the Jedi agreed to in order to allow her to be tried fully by the courts. There was a Jury of Senators present, and Senator Amidala of Naboo acted as Ahsoka's defense while Tarkin was her prosecution.
With his argument, it was clear that the Jury had sided with him, and Asoka would be executed for her apparent crimes. Before judgement could be acted on though, Anakin Skywalker rushed into the room with Bariss Offee, the real villain behind the plot, and proved Ahsoka singlehandedly innocent.
During the rise of the Empire, Tarkin was positioned with leading assaults against the few remaining Separatist worlds to prevent any kind of a Rebellion coming from those worlds. Tarkin acted harshly on those he found, but it was still too early in the days of the Empire to really allow the people to see such opposition. To distance Tarkin from his, he was promoted to the Rank of Grand Moff, and assigned the task of overseeing the construction of the Death Star.
He was also named Governor of several outer rim worlds, though it wasn't limited to just the outer rim as Alderaan and Lothal were also in his jurisdiction.
It was on the day of the Death Star's completion that Tarkin found himself being dragged into the time slip... just before he could see it used for the first time on the slave world that it had been constructed over.
