They continued walking on wards, though the conversation between the two of them was seeming to pick up again as Brody continued his line of reasoning in defense of his assumption, he made the mistake of saying that Aldric was eliminating a possibility without evidence. That couldn't be further from the truth. Perhaps Aldric had spoken more harshly then he intended to, but the truth was that Aldric never accepted something without evidence to support it, and that was just what he was doing in this moment. He had always said that it was a fatal mistake to accept something as fact, or to begin formulating a hypothesis of any kind, without evidence to support it first. So many people did that, and so many people ended up wrong. In this instance, there was absolutely no evidence of a Pumpkin in use, and so he didn't blindly accept it as fact.
"Wrong!" Aldric began almost right away at Brody's accusation. "I am not eliminating anything, at the same time though; unlike you, i am not accepting anything or jumping to any conclusions without solid facts and evidence to back it up." Aldric replied, turning the accusing finger back on Brody now, who had seemingly accepted the existence of Mr. Pumpkin head just because he WANTED it to exist. A big mistake in Aldric's opinion. It was strange how similar these two brothers were, and yet they had very different beliefs in how to go about an investigation.
Where as Aldric viewed the glass half empty so to speak, Brody preferred the Half Full approach. Aldric wouldn't accept anything until all other possibilities were eliminated, and Brody preferred to think that anything was possible until it could be absolutely certain that it wasn't. In so many ways these methods were similar, but also very very different.
It didn't matter what Aldric was thinking or saying about the situation though, Brody seeming to ignore it as he spoke about the nightmare Aldric had only lightly alluded to. "NO!" He replied back with an exasperated groan and a hang of his head. Really? that was what Brody got out of that conversation? He had to sigh a bit at the thought and continued to walk on wards further with his brother. Eventually the childish question was asked by Brody, asking how close they were to the location in question. Aldric pointed forwards towards the house that was sitting away from them on a hill not far now. "Almost." Aldric reassured him as he continued forward through the heavy rain and fog.

Aldric had to refuse Brody's point of view... again. If one said black, the other would say white. That was the summary of their relationship. They had to argue about everything and anything. They rarely agreed about things. Now seemed to be no exception for that. As Brody accused Aldric about eliminating the facts without having any proof, but Aldric was returning it with the opposite. Both sides had a good point, yet nothing seemed to be certain now. They were really different in strategies, but perhaps Brody was looking at things in a more positive angle. And he had an interest in eccentric details like this, no matter how ridiculous it might sound to Aldric's ears.
But to Aldric's refusal, Brody was just smiling at the old times. He was never really a bully, but he loved to give his little brother a good scare. If only it was any easy to do that now...
He chuckled at the younger one's reaction and sighed. Oh, how much he enjoyed doing this.
To his question of how much more they had to move on, Aldric pointed at a house ahead. They were almost there. Brody could use a hot cup of tea and some resting before the fireplace. But of course, if the widowed lady ever let them in for those.
Now a thick fog was pressing down on them, making it difficult to see their destination. But at least the storm was easing up a little. This slowed them down all the more, but the brothers managed to stick together. Though, a few times Brody found himself bumping into trees or tripping over roots. Nothing was broken or injured, so he moved on.
After fifteen more minutes of walking, they finally arrived at the house's porch. The small shelter of the roof was welcomed and Brody shivered a little before wearing a big smile in his face and knocking at the door. Then he glanced back at Aldric knowingly. "Watch and learn, Al."
After two loud knocking, Brody brought his face closer to the door and spoke for the widow. "We are to speak you about your husband." Direct to the point. But there was purpose in misleading the poor woman about their intentions. While there was no answer to the door for a good period, soon the door was being opened slightly and a tired looking woman looked at them from the small arch.
"Who are you?" She asked with a low tone. It was obvious she had been busy crying and didn't have much humanly interactions in recent days.

The two brothers continued to walk through the fog covered forest; the fog growing thicker the more the rain let up a bit. It clung to the ground, but they managed to navigate it well enough; only the occasional unforeseeable rock or tree stump coming between them, but it was never enough to actually send either of them to the ground and off their feet. It was still cold, and the rain hadn't stopped entirely, but it was much more bearable now. Aldric still lead the way for the two of them, at least until they had arrived at the house.
As they were coming up to it, Brody took the lead from Aldric, turning back and making his comment as he seemed to taunt or almost challenge Aldric. He sighed a bit, rolling his eyes but let Brody move forward, up the steps and onto the porch that shielded them a little from the rainfall. After a few rapid sets of knocking on the door, Brody called loud enough to be heard through the walls of the house, and Aldric sighed a bit, muttering. "Good start for sympathy." He commented low, but hoped it had been loud enough for his brother to hear him.
Brody wouldn't have had the chance to reply to Aldric's quip though before the woman was coming to the door, obviously distraught over the loss of her husband so recently. She spoke, and Aldric could tell that none of this was fake. Tears could be faked by very good actors or actresses, but the scratch in her throat? That was sincere. That or she had been expecting their visit for the last few days and was just that good at acting on it, but Aldric was more willing to assume the balance was likely the former of the two options.
Aldric remained silent though, standing back with an arched eyebrow for a moment as he was willing to let his brother do the talking as he had planned. Aldric was better off quietly observing people and their reactions anyway. Still he stepped forward, not bearing to let Brody do all the talking. Or perhaps he was just being childish and trying to get in Brody's way. He extended his hand in order to shake her's in greeting. "My name is Aldric, and this is my Brother Brody." He shook her hand for a moment, both of his hands clasped around her's, both to get a measure of her temperature and to show a seemingly comforting gesture. He didn't of course mean it to be comforting, but for her to think he cared.
Aside from that little bit just to get on Brody's nerves though, Aldric decided he would do his best to let Brody do MOST of the talking. Unless he was doing it wrong.

The woman sniffed and looked in between the brothers from the arch of the door. Her eyes were wet and puffy. She looked quite tired, which was a normal human reaction for a woman in her condition. But normal wasn't a word belonging to the Cibre family dictionary. Each of them was a special case.
While Brody heard of Aldric's smartass comment on his choice of words, he pretended to ignore it. His over confident mood was superior now and even his little brother couldn't ruin it. But to the widow's question, it was Aldric who answered; introducing them. The woman still stood there and not opening the door further. "What do you want to know?" She asked with an exhausted tone.
Brody didn't seem offended about the fact they were not invited in and asked for a hot beverage. He was fine with holding on the conversation by the door like this. Running his hand through his long hair strands and plastering it to the side of his face, he started with his questions. "If it's not too difficult for you, we want to hear what happened. Any detail will help." He said, trying not to sound overly excited. But he was. It was a whole new level of excitement to come here to investigate an urban legend. "We want to find the one responsible for this unfortunate act and turn them in." Brody was now pretty serious, no longer trying to suppress a big grin.
To his words, the woman opened the door fully and motioned them to come in. Once both men were in, she closed the door behind them and then locked; which didn't even seem to disturb Brody at all. He strode around with long steps, examining every little detail about the house. He couldn't walk past the family picture who seemed to be hung at a wrong angle. As he poked the lower edge of the frame upward to fix it, Brody's eyes were on the picture carefully. He could see the murdered man, who was posing very serious for the camera. He was obviously a farmer with those calloused hands. It was unfortunate how his life ended.
When he turned at the widowed woman after fixing the angle of a vase, Brody could see she was now sitting on a chair and reaching for a napkin on the table. More tears were coming.
"Berto was a good man." She started with a burst of sorrow and pressed her napkin to her eyes. "He spent all his days in our farm. He loved the plants. He took care of each of them." She paused for a bit to fight back more tears. And with that Brody approached to the woman, kneeling just before her to grab her hands in his. He was obviously trying to comfort her.
"Did he have any enemies?" He asked, his expression showing how he could feel what she was going through. "Any suspicious figures in recent days?"
The woman shook her head as a no. She was squeezing Brody's hand. "Everyone liked him." She sniffed loudly and closed her eyes. Then there was another pause, as if she remembered of something. "But there was a thief who stole some vegetables. He told me things were missing. He always counted what he had."
While this kind of detail wouldn't excite much people, Brody's eyes shone with some sort of excitement. "We'd like to visit that place then."

The woman stood there in the door way for a moment, but after a moment did ask what it was the two brothers needed to know about the death of her husband; though her tone was heavy with exasperation. That was all she allowed at the moment, the door didn't even move from the small crack that she already had it opened to. Aldric remained silent though, deciding to let Brody carry out the conversation as he had planned to. Brody of course was more then happy to take said opportunity and began speaking as he explained that the two of them wanted to learn anything about the man in question they could, and that they aimed to bring whoever was behind this to justice.
After a second the woman stepped back a little and opened the door the rest of the way for them, moving inside before she shut and locked the door behind them. Aldric arched his brow as he looked to the lock, letting the two of them go in further into the house. He shook himself dry a little before he removed his coat and hung it by the door so as not to drag water through the woman's home. He took the opportunity to make minor observations here and there but was soon following after them in time to see Brody correct the slightly tilt picture on the wall. He rolled his eyes a little but stopped to look at it all the same. So this was the dead man?
Clearly the was a right handed hard worker who earned most everything he had. Calluses on his hands determined that withing a glance, and the fact that he managed to keep up with his farm given the size of it and the fierce weather proved everything else. He glanced back into the room now as he saw Brody sitting there in front of the woman in question, her hands clasped firmly in his own as she tried to continue speaking. Her opinion of her husband was high, as was to be expected in a case such as this. Brody continued to ask the questions about any kind of enemies the family had made as Aldric was slowly stepping back into the room.
At first the widow was quick to deny anything of the sort, however after deeper thought she mentioned something about a crop theft. Of course Brody spoke right away as he asked to see the crops in question. It took a second for Aldric to register that one of the vegetables in the picture had indeed been a pumpkin... He had to groan a little, hanging his head while he remained near the exit to the room. Rationally he knew that there was a chance the pumpkin wasn't involved at all... technically it could have been any plant... but if Brody said one word about it... or worse If he was right about it... Aldric would never hear the end of it.

Brody was successful suppressing a grin until the widowed woman described him about the location of their farm. Oh, Aldric's loud groan was music to his ears. Then he was patting her hands in a comforting manner. "We will keep you informed. Thank you for your cooperation." He said with a small and warm smile. It was heartfelt. Then the older brother rose from his place, noticing he created a small pool under his feet. Giving an airy apology over it, he started to back away to the door; meeting Aldric's eyes. Brody didn't even hide away his cocky smirk.
"This is why I am the smarter one, little brother." Further words were not needed. The truth was more than enough. "Now we are going to wander around the farm, Al. I need to see the crime scene with my own eyes." He reached for the door, but remembered it was locked. The key was on it, though. So it was no problem to unlock it.
The storm was not as heavy now. The rain was still pouring and it was already too late for Brody to care. Keeping his nose up, he stepped out of the house and got off the porch. This time their destination wasn't too far away. It only took ten minutes around some trees, the they reached a fence. The small wooden door inside the private landmark was not locked. So they could easily get in.
It was literally and practically a good farm in every aspect. It was wide, not easy to see the furthest side from one stand point. Different types of plants were grouped in separate places, bearing their fruits. Everything was green and lively, now joyful by the rain. Without saying a word, Brody allowed himself into the portion of the farm that was filled with corn. Only in a moment, he disappeared from the sight; busying himself in interesting details.

Brody to no surprise to Aldric was keeping a rather straight and warm face as he spoke to the woman in the chair in front of him before eventually promising that the two of them would share their findings with her. Aldric sighed lightly. That would slow them down of course, but he supposed it was important to keep her up to speed on anything that uncovered in their personal investigations. Before long Brody was back to his feet and returning to Aldric, not before making his quip in passing as they were now both returning to the exiting door.
Aldric's expression was slightly bitter, almost childishly pouting as he followed Brody; glaring daggers into the back of his brother's head for that comment. All the same though he didn't speak yet, letting Brody unlock the door while he focused on pulling his coat scarf and gloves on again. He buttoned up the front as well, following his brother out the door with a small sigh. Once the door was closed behind them again though Aldric spoke up. "You made a lucky guess, just because it MIGHT be right doesn't mean you're smarter then me." Aldric argued finally, stepping off of the porch in a bound instead of taking the couple of stairs that lead down and away from it.
He landed surely without slipping in the wet ground and continued on around the back of the homestead, walking confidently as he pulled his collar up once more against the rain and wind. Brody lead the way for a moment, but broke off in a different direction as he investigated the corn crop. The rain was washing away any physical foot prints, but what Aldric did notice was where some of the crops were leaning over against the natural bend of the wind. Clearly he had found a trail that began on the far end of the field. He smirked lightly, looking back to where Brody had disappeared.
While he investigated ... whatever it was he was investigating... (probably ants on a corn stalk or something equally irrelevant to the case) Aldric would be investigating what actually mattered. He followed the trail, taking note of the different crops that were either destroyed or picked from by the crop thief. Among them of course was a pumpkin... something that irritated Aldric a little but he was still holding his doubts for that. After all no one had yet to report mister pumpkin head. Aldric was able to eliminate a few races from his observations... certain plants had been stolen that certain races couldn't eat for example, and any carnivorous race, such as Twi'lek and Togruta were automatically eliminated just by the fact the suspect was stealing food from a crop field. It wasn't much, but it was a start...

"Luck?!" Brody asked with a louder tone than he was aiming for, yet very cheerful. But there was a big grin in his face, it was obvious he was enjoying this argument they were having. He liked any moments to be able to tease his little brother to no end, proving how he was right; even about the silliest things. "Since when you started to believe in luck?" He shook his head at this poor excuse of Al and leaded the way in the rain.
As Aldric guessed, Brody was straying away from the bigger picture once more; going after small bugs and the direction they were heading for. Small details were something he always found himself attracted to. Brody even examined a black bug who was now sitting top of his index finger from the closeness, grinning at the small creature with amusement. "Hell there, little guy." After the bug flew away, Brody followed after it in the corn field. It wasn't an easy task to do, but he had so careful eyes. Though, all the thick corns were making it difficult to run through. Thus he caused damage to the crops on his way, sometimes tripping at some and losing balance.
But as the bug took him to a clearing, Brody stopped following it and took a moment to look around. It wasn't the crime scene. But there were some suspicious looking details. They weren't for common eyes, of course. He could see a few damaged branches and a few misplaced rocks. Yes, some crops were missing, too; which was directing back at what the widow mentioned. So this was where the murderer was hiding at. Or at least, it spent some time here before going for the farmer's head.
Pulling his scanner out, Brody started to search the area for more misplaced things an eye couldn't easily notice. Regardless to mention, the storm did a good job with destroying and cleaning up most of the clues by now. So he was looking at a washed up scene. As his scanner gave out a loud beep to point at a certain direction, Brody found himself catching a piece of fabric which was stuck on the body of a tree. He approached and brought his index finger at it. He didn't touch yet, but noticed the markings on the tree. They were horizontal and straight, like it came from a knife. No, a bigger thing. An axe most likely.
Of course, he didn't call out for Aldric yet. Not before he examined everything here. His little brother would only provide distraction and a headache. Bringing his scanner back into view, Brody set it up to make the image bigger on the screen; using it as a magnifying glass. Though, he was almost startled with something moving behind him; right in the corn field. As he paused and turned to look back at there; he could see the crops waving. Someone was really in there.
Leaving the tree behind, Brody ran back into the corn field. "Hey, wait up there!" He called after the mysterious figure. "Let's just talk!"

He groaned as Brody reminded him of the mistake he made. No, Aldric did not believe in Luck, but that didn't make his argument any more wrong. He continued to trek through the crop field, but he was still within shouting range of Brody. "It's a Very poor Expression!" Aldric called back over his shoulder in defense, loud enough for Brody to hear him again now that they had effectively split up as he continued to follow the trail that he had uncovered.
It seemed as though things had gone silent from there, Brody moving off somewhere to investigate whatever he was looking at, and Aldric continued to follow the trail. It winded around and broke off into several different paths that the thief would have known like the back of his hand. Aldric didn't have such time to learn them of course, but he was able to use his knowledge of the world in general to tell which ones were the most traversed and followed those ones specifically. What he hadn't been expecting was for one of the paths to wind around and lead around to the same general areas that Brody was investigating.
When he called for someone to stop, Aldric shot up a little more, looking around as he darted from where he was into the small area where the make shift camp had been set up. It looked like an area where the thief stockpiled his gleanings and then packed it all up before he fled. It was still very clearly used, which was already throwing warning bells into Aldric's mind. What kind of a moron would continue to steal from the man he had just killed, and remain so close to his home? Almost anyone would be able to tell it would make them a prime suspect.
Before thinking on it too hard though Aldric found himself looking back up from his place and into the field where Brody was disappearing deeper into as he followed the mysterious figure. Aldric pulled out his taser and his stunner, holding one in each hand before he ran into the crop field, handing the Taser over to his brother in passing as he continued to give chase. "This end away from yourself." He spoke in explanation about how to use the tool, as if his brother had no idea how to use it. Brody had spent a few years recently behind a desk, and so Aldric was a little more suited for running in his opinion. Which meant he was more likely to catch the mystery man then Brody was. He ran around in an arch though, not running directly after the figure. Instead he would let Brody do that, while Aldric used the paths he had just found to run in a long loop with the hope of catching the man by cutting him off up ahead...

There was something true about Aldric's guess. That he had spent too much time behind a desk, he was a little out of shape. He was never the athletic person, but that wasn't how he preferred to solve things. Things rarely got physical for Brody. And now this sudden chase was already wearing him down. He was fine with a bit of running around, though. Not forever, but his determination was always the best fuel.
When Aldric joined Brody up with the chase in the corn field, the older brother was being offered a taser among with instructions. While Brody accepted the weapon, his face was clearly showing he didn't appreciate the instructions. Of course, he knew how to hold a taser properly. "Don't tempt me to shoot you." It was his turn to groan. But surely, he was aware Aldric was trying to get under his skin. And it worked.
Then their ways were separated, where Aldric was taking a different route. Brody kept following after the running figure directly. His breathing was now faster and his legs started to burn. But Brody was stubborn enough to keep after the suspicious figure. "We are not going to hurt you!" He yelled after this person, still unable to see who it was. His main lead was the crops waving ahead of him, signaling the person in between.
Naturally, running away from them was a suspicious enough act. An innocent person would have no reason to do this. Yet a scared person was also capable of flight. Not that Brody did anything to scare anyone off before. But the topic was very subjective. Brody wouldn't prefer to charge this person guilty at this point, but things could get clearer; if they could talk like civil people. He didn't aim the taser right away since he was already falling back a little.
Oh, bugger.
He needed some exercise.

Once separated from his brother, Aldric was able to quickly make up lost time. Though his path winded off in a different direction the most people would imagine was a good idea, Aldric had already been through the different paths, and he knew that this one in particular looped back around and cut the other path off. With Brody on the man's tail, the would be getaway was nervous and making mistakes as he tried to escape; stopping here and there as he tried to decide on which paths to take. This gave Aldric even more time to get ahead, and soon enough he was rounding a corner, spreading arms and legs apart after he had jumped in front of the man who seemed to run determinedly through Aldric.
It was enough to knock Aldric into the muddied ground, but the grass and crops were so heavy that besides being a little more wet from the water under the crops, he wasn't actually any dirtier then he had been before. He looped his arms around the man, rolling on top of him and placing a pair of binders on the man's wrist before he was standing up and dragging the man to his feet. His breathing was labored, but not nearly as bad as Brody's was (when his older brother finally caught up again.) "Putting on weight again Brody?" Aldric asked with a small smirk on his face, listening to his brother's heavy and labored breathing that sounded as if he had just wrestled a Rancor to the ground with his bare hands.
The man that Aldric had effectively tackled seemed to let his shoulders slump, breathing heavily too as he seemed to relent to having been caught by the brothers. Aldric let the man go as it seemed her was giving up, and then moved back to his brother to collect the taser that didn't appear to be needed any more. He put both weapons back in their respective pockets. With a small sigh, catching his breath in only a few seconds he looked over to Brody, arching his brow a bit as if inviting him to go ahead and ask the questions sense he wanted to lead the case. "whenever you're ready..." He commented, referring to Brody needing to catch his breath. "But quite quickly." He added.

When Brody was finally able to catch up to their suspect and his little brother, he was at his limit. He came to a stop and kept up with a show of inhaling and exhaling loudly. The taser was still in his hand, hanging by his side uselessly, now he no longer needed the weapon at all. Of course, there was an obvious disappointment in losing this challenge to Aldric. It was never a good thing in Brody's book to give his brother any excuse to gloat about. But now what happened was already done and there wasn't anything he could do about it.
"Oh, shut up, Al." He happened to tell in between his quick and shallow breathing, when Aldric made that weight comment. It wasn't half true... Most likely a quarter true and that was all. Then with a pained expression he bent forward to relax better, placing his hands against his knees. His head hung from in between his shoulders. His long hair fell over his forehead altogether in a messy way.
Then Aldric was naturally being impatient, telling Brody to hurry up and ask a question already. He pointed his free hand and rose an index finger as a signal to wait for a second. His lungs were about to explode, after all. He just needed another moment. It was an good guess to think his first question would be about pumpkins, since Brody seemed to have a strange fixation on this detail. But this time Brody was all about surprises. Or not.
"Why are you hanging around a crime scene? You don't look like a murderer." He could form his sentences in between heavy panting. But he was finally standing up straight, his expression looking a bit tired. "A crop thief, yes." He arched an eyebrow and exhaled loudly. "Did you witness the murder?" He asked with a serious expression now, getting all business like.
The bound man looked all defeated, as he looked up at Brody and shook his head. "I saw nothing." He said and paused for a moment. "But I may have heard things. My memory needs to be cleared. For the right price..." The thief was already trying to make a profit here and it made Brody glare at Aldric with a great displeasure in his face.

If Aldric was ever smug, it was right now. The look on his face and the knowing smug grin all showed that he was enjoying Brody and his misery in the situation that they now found themselves in. Aldric was just fine, having already caught his breath after the stint of running he had had to do. Brody on the other hand was still breathing hard, bending half way over as he tried to catch his breath and Aldric couldn't be more pleased. He had certainly tried his brother's patience too when he had made his comment about his older Brother's heavier weight. That was all that needed to be said on the matter though, before Brody (eventually) had enough breath back to speak and ask the questions that Aldric had prompted him to ask.
Brody asked the questions, and the man foolishly stood there defiantly. He both admitted that he knew something, but wanted to barter. Really? Aldric sighed. "Moron." He muttered almost like a thought, but he didn't care if the idiot heard him. "You want a deal? Alright then." Aldric commented with a sigh as he took a step around the man so he could see him then. The man's eyes locked on Aldric as he almost seemed worried; and definitely more then just a little confused by Aldric's comment and his theatrics.
"You already Verbally confessed that you know something, and if you don't tell us we can share that with the authorities. That would get you... accessory after the fact at the very least. Oh and your theft of the crops... i'm sure that's more then enough evidence for even the police to get somewhere with." Aldric explained, not about to bribe the man with anything to get him to give up the information he obviously possessed. "So either you tell use what you have; or we tell the police what WE have. Up to you." Aldric explained, narrowing his eyes a little bit as if challenging the man to try his act again.

Displeasure and disappointment. Those were the obvious emotions in Brody's expression. He liked it when people were honest to him. But of course, things were never that simple. This guy wanted to play it in the hard way. As much as Brody disliked taking this route, they seemed to have no other option here. He released a heavy sigh, but thankfully Aldric was quick to step in. Though, he started with an insult and then went on with a threat. Again, it was not what Brody would have preferred. But he allowed his little brother do the aggressive talk. As soon as the man spoke, it would be to their benefit.
Arching his non-existent brows at this one sided conversation, the older brother was mostly busy with watching the crop thief's face. He was rather good with reading mimics and small expressions. After a pause, Brody needed to have a word of himself. And it wasn't exactly in Aldric's line of talk. "We are the least of your worries, if you keep hiding away the truth." He tilted his head to the side and brought his face closer to the man. After glancing around for a brief moment, he started to whisper at the man. "The Headless Horseman goes after liars. You'll be next." Now he was using that story telling tone he had, which he mostly used for Al; when they were little. It wasn't actually a threat. This was story-telling. Fine lines appeared in Brody's face, as he kept his eyes on the crop thief, who was making direct eye contact with him.
"But if you tell us what you know, then you'll be safe." A small smile was added and Brody was patting the man on the shoulder. The crop thief looked in between two brothers with a mixed expression in his face. So he was either thinking if these guys were for real or he was just pondering to take the deal or not.
"So what do you say?" Brody asked politely. "Truth or dare?" The silence remained for another long moment and then the man just frowned before shaking his head.
"Fine, ya nutjobs. Have it your way." He glared at each brother unhappily before continuing. "I only heard something. Did see no one with my own eyes." He admitted. It wasn't as useful, but what he knew still could help. "There was the struggle. But it didn't last much. There was a scream and then..." He whistled, somehow making an improper head roll to gesture at the ill fate of the farmer. "That's all."
Brody just glared at that. This was really no help in the end. "Did you hear any animals?" He asked.
"No." The man answered shortly.
"Did you see any pumpkins?"
"I stole one or two before." The man grinned. Brody's expression was a thing of pure shock.
"Did you hear any weapons?"
The man shrugged. "Nope."
Brody exhaled loudly at that. This was running in circles. Pulling back, he turned around and shook his head. "Let's go, Al. This man knows nothing."

Aldric continued to stand still as he had left the man in front of him to come to terms with the two options he had left him; the threat of going to the police with all of this still hanging in the air for the time being before Brody picked up the conversation and began making up his own stories to tell the man in front of them. Aldric had to roll his eyes, giving a small only barely audible groan. Aldric's threat was a little more practical then Brody's had been, but he tried not to show he was overly exasperated with the turn of story telling his brother was using now. Either way after a moment the man broke; whether it was Aldric's threat or Brody's outlandish tale that did it, it didn't matter in the end as they were getting what they needed.
The man was tired of it it seemed and was now ready to spill whatever it was he knew... which to Brody's disappointment wasn't much... only sounds. Aldric on the other hand was a lot more optimistic about it all. Sounds were important, sounds could tell you everything! When the man explained what had happened Aldric listened closely and picked up on one thing that his story told him. Unlike he stories he had grown up with, where the ghostly figure forever seeking his head seemed to be invincible and godlike, this one was mortal. There had been a struggle, something that wouldn't have been done, let alone heard if there was some mystic force behind this attack. Brody didn't seem to agree with it as much, but Aldric smirked a little.
Another bonus? The man explained he was the one who had stolen the pumpkins, and he clearly wasn't the headless horsemen, which told Aldric that this pumpkin had nothing to do with the case after all. Two reasons for Aldric to actually be happy about all of this. He glanced over to Brody when he said they could get going and caught up with this stride, smirking proudly.
"He knew more then you think..." Aldric commented after a moment, pulling his coat collar up and his coat around him a little tighter. "We're not looking for some force ghost brother... this is a person using the Horsemen's reputation as an alibi, no one thinks to question the ghost after all." Aldric explained, with a confident smirk to his brother as they walked on their way out of the crop field. "... A struggle? With a ghost? I think not. It was a real person." He explained, leaving there to be no room for argument in his extrapolation of the story... but he had to add one more thing to run in his brother's face.
"Oh and... the Pumpkins have nothing to do with the Horseman."
