PERSONALITY
Dalik is a very wise and very well brought up individual. Although his father was a bounty hunter, his father had a certain code that taught morals such as never striking down an unarmed opponent or enemy. Dalik was also very well educated and has a firm grasp on the history of the Galaxy. Dalik is a very valuable teacher and has a lust and thirst for knowledge especially if it can help improve the Jedi Order in his time and give it a good light once again due to all the corruption that had gone on before he took the Grandmaster position.
Usually, Dalik is devoid of emotion and keeps a very calm expression and stature about him and often will speak in the same tone in a Confucian like metaphor especially if he's teaching. But there are times when he enjoys going out and having a bit of fun or a drink, whether it's a Jawa Juice or going out to a podrace. Dalik does and will, from time to time, enjoy himself when he doesn't feel the need to work hard. To sum up Dalik, he is a very educated and smart individual with a lust for knowledge and a thirst to teach that knowledge to other people.
BACKGROUND
Planet Origin: Tattooine
Starting Planet: Dantooine
Era Origin: Post-Legacy Era
History:
Early Life:
Dalik Valen was a descendant to many veterans, going back to the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War. But unlike his ancestry, he would have a gift that none would ever have.
Dalik was born on Tattooine to a Bounty Hunter and a Freed Slave in Mos Eisley, and although he lived most of his Toddler life in peace. His childhood was one of hell in his time without the Jedi Order. He would accompany his father who wanted him to follow in the footsteps of his Bounty Hunting career and one day take his place as his alter ego ‘Prime’. Sadly when his father had crossed paths with another Bounty Hunter, he got into a fight with vibroknives and lost his life. Shocking Dalik into anger, picking up his fathers blade and attempting to avenge his father, he failed and wound up with a cut on the cheek. A permanent reminder of the day a boy lost his father.
When Dalik was about nine years old, he lost his mother and experienced his first encounter with a Jedi and was amazed at what he saw. After asking many questions the mysterious Jedi hushed him and concentrated on him, noting that he was a Force Sensitive and asked him to come with him. And that was the first time he felt like he was meant for something more than just bounty hunting.
Life as a Trainee:
When he first arrived at the Jedi Temple, Dalik was told by the mysterious Jedi to approach the Jedi Council with him. Of course he obeyed and was brought before them for the first time at age nine. The Council agreed to train him and from there he was made a Jedi Trainee. Attending classes regularly and learned of the Jedi Code and the Force. Also learning how to wield a saber through a training saber. And at thirteen years old, while he was still a trainee, he ran into the mysterious Jedi again and after hours of talking, he revealed his name was Bor Kamic and saw potential in Dalik to become a Jedi Knight of the Order. A year later, Bor took him as his Padawan and taught him for the rest of his training.
Padawanship:
NOTE: It was during this time that Dalik began to really become familiar with the saber forms: Shii-Cho, Makashi, Djem So, and Soresu
Dalik accompanied Bor throughout the Galaxy on peacekeeping missions for the Jedi Order, usually without any incident besides having to detain a few smugglers who continued to try and conspire against them. And most of the later missions were successful if he followed Bor’s instruction. The flaw was that Dalik was stubborn at first, very immature and didn’t take things very seriously when he was in the younger stages of his Padawan training, often jumping the gun before thinking about what the consequences were. And if it weren’t for Bor, he would’ve lost his life in one mission where they were trying to capture and arrest a Crime Boss in his home planet of Tattooine.
Obedience and maturity began to show the most when he was seventeen years old. He began to make choices for himself at the approval of Bor, who was impressed by his sudden change from the immature fourteen year old Padawan he was. Sometimes his actions were so great, that he was able to detain certain thugs they encountered without even a trace of a fight. The missions too began to become more difficult as he aged, going from easy, to intermediate. This change also influenced a change in his attitude, in which he began to calm down and slowly work his way into completing the mission.
When he was twenty-four, he almost lost his Master. During a mission, they were compromised and finally a long and tedious battle ensued. Bor told Dalik to get out and that he’d be fine. At first Dalik refused but Bor finally pursuaded him to go. Instead of telling the Council of what happened, Dalik left the complex until nightfall.
Nightfall struck, and Dalik took the opportunity to use it to his advantage. He snuck into the complex once more, where they were trying to arrest once again an extremely influential Crime Boss and used skills he was taught by his father to get past the guards and get to Bor’s holding cell. Without resistance what so ever, he took his master out and snuck back out. Taking their ship back to the Jedi Temple, and left Dalik to explain what happened.
The Council however, did not seem disappointed for Dalik’s failure to follow his masters order, but more impressed by the measures he took to save him. As a reward, they began his Jedi Knight Trials.
Trials towards Knighthood:
The First Trial had been the Trial of Courage which he had already passed due to saving his Master on Tattooine from possibly death, and that was enough in their book.
His Second Trial was the Trial of Skill, in which they tested his skill with a Lightsaber by having him spar with three Jedi Knights. The only catch was that he’d have to win two out of the three duels he would face between them. At first he engaged a Jedi Knight which he encountered months before and asked if one day, they could see who the better swordsman was for fun. He of course agreed and after a long spar, the Jedi Knight came on top, and they went their separate ways laughing about it.
Finally, he cornered a female Jedi Knight who agreed to do the next spar with him. And realising that he lost the first duel due to a cocky nature he had with that Knight, he relied on more self control and waited for the perfect opportunity to strike, relying more on defense with this duel. Finally he found the opportunity and took it, he had won the second duel.
The Third Duel was the most challenging, after asking the third Jedi Knight he agreed immediately. And the duel lasted for about 30 minutes, he had to use a mixture of defense and attack. Both of them seemed to have the same tactic in their heads and managed to make it a long spar. Finally, Dalik took one daring move and ended up winning his third spar...passing his second trial.
His Third Trial was the Trial of the Flesh after he found out that Bor Kamic had finally met his match, he began to search for a way to cope. It was hard at first, he hadn’t lost a person close to him since his mother. Finally he found his way to cope through a vision of his master, and was able to move on with a smile on his face.
The Fourth Trial Trial of Spirit had him go deep into a meditation state and finally face his worst memories, his deepest fears. In this case, it was the death of his father. At first, he was having difficulty. His heart racing he watched as his father was fatally stabbed but finally he raised his hand and pushed it away, another memory had come into his mind.
It was his mother, weak in her deathbed and possibly his worst memory to think about. But he prevailed and finally passed his fourth trial.
His Fifth and final Trial was the Trial of Insight and at his request he was given the Almas Academy Method of the Trials. The Council agreed to let him administer this test and they began to proceed with the first test.
His first test in the Almas Trial was to recite the Jedi Code and recite what each tenet meant to him. The Council took a few days to evaluate how he did on critique on his take to the Jedi Code and a few days later he was summoned back in. He had passed the trial due to intense study on what it meant to be a Jedi and he was sent to the basement in the Academy for the second test.
The Second Test he meditated for five days, often seeing visions of peace and prosperity in the galaxy. And yet also sometimes some dark visions of things that could possibly come in the future. He began to slowly develop his extremely serene personality throughout this point and finally after five days was up, he exited the basement and went to the Council for the third and final test.
The Third Test was to go to Tattooine and confront his past once more, and see beyond it. He complied and flew to Mos Eisley, in which the first place he went was the area where his father was murdered.
At first, he saw the fight that led to his fathers demise, he took a deep breath to hide the trouble he was having and finally closed his eyes. When he opened them, there was something else. It was a younger him with his father and his father looked towards him and gave a smirk and his usual salute. A satisfied and happy Dalik, walked towards his old home.
It was small, but it was good enough for him and his mother, seeing her laying in her deathbed hacking and coughing. Once again another terrible sight but as he closed his eyes and opened them again, she was gone but he could hear humming from the kitchen. Walking into the kitchen he saw his mother cooking, waiting for her son to come back from yet another day of play and finally when he walked in she greeted him with the same heartwarming smile she always had. He smiled and left his home, he had defeated his past and finally moved on.
His trials were over, and he was on his way to becoming a Jedi Knight.
Knighthood and Beyond:
Dalik had participated in many a war throughout his Knighthood and eventually found himself training many a Padawan into Knighthood. And swiftly, Dalik found himself a spot on the Council. Where he continued to improve the then struggling Order, which had a hostile outlook with many of the Governments in the Galaxy. Dalik quickly revitalized the Order and eventually through years of discipline, found himself at the seat of the Jedi Grandmaster. And when a new threat arose, Dalik was quick to jump to defend the Galaxy. The battle was long and arduous and instead of becoming one of the causalities, a rift sent him back in time.
Dalik found himself in the middle of The Old Republic....
ABILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
Strengths/Skills: Dalik is a skilled warrior and pilot, and a valuable teacher. Making him a valuable ally in battle. And Dalik also knows how to think and survive as if a Bounty Hunter, as his father had been one.
Weaknesses: Dalik's lust for knowledge has at times gotten him into trouble as he has a curious mind and seeks to improve his understanding of the Force on both sides. And has at times but very rarely, lost focus when it was needed.
Weapons/Equipment: Lightsaber
FORCE USERS
Force Affiliation: Light
Lightsaber Description: Dalik's hilt was partly inspired by two Jedi Master's, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker. The hilt looks to be like an updated version, same semantics and all, but was also in part salvaged from some parts of his fathers blaster, which he modified to work to build the saber. And emits a Green blade.
Combat Styles: Dalik has mastered to the point of fluency the saber styles of Shii-Cho, Djem-So, Makashi, Soresu, and Ataru. While he sticks to a path to learn Vaapad he is knowledgeable enough of most saber styles to know how to execute them correctly should someone come to him for teaching..
Force Powers: Dalik knows all the standard force powers (push, pull, speed, sense, etc.) and knows others such as Mind Trick, Healing, and Protection. Dalik has also been seen to have administered Battle Meditation from time to time but he rarely uses it to the point where it's been passed on as a myth.
