Emmi Daneb
He stretched a little at the end of the day, giving a small sigh as the youngling dropped off the side of the medical bed, Elek smiling down at the little Duro's boy as he patted his head after putting his arm in the cast. "Just take it easy, you only sprained it. I took the edge off, but if you start swinging that sword again too soon it will hurt again." He warned the little guy, the red eyes looking up at him as the blue skinned boy nodded finally, agreeing enthusiastically not to get into any more duels during his training for a day or two. He nodded again and watched the boy wander out of the healing chambers before he turned around, looking to Emmi in the room with him. Elek wasn't officially a Healer on his own, so he wasn't allowed to come in here at any time and act as a healer, but it just so happened that his best friend, Emmi Daneb, was also a healer. She was also a busy woman, and so healing on her own was becoming more pressing lately, partly because she wasn't just assigned to the Halls of healing, but also to an actual clinic here on Dantooine under a big time doctor of some kind. Being so busy, she appreciated when Elek volunteered to help her take some of her medical duties, which was benefiting the both of them. Elek hoped to be able to get a master, finish his over due training, and work in the halls of healing for the rest of his Knighthood, but at the moment all progress was stalled. Emmi had stood aside the whole time, letting him take care of this patient on his own... practice what was very much needed on Elek's part. Now though it was only a few minutes before Emmi had to end her shift, And Elek didn't get to stay longer then her as long as she was his chaperon. He stretched again, sighing a bit before he walked past her to grab his cloak, pulling it on his shoulders before he came up with her's and handed it to her. "Thanks for letting me tag along." He commented, looking to the clock behind her and seeing she only had a few more minutes on the shift. He looked back down to her again, shrugging a little. "It's late and i haven't eaten... i should go get something to eat now... if you want to come with me?"

Emmi watched Elek from a chair in the corner of the room. She probably didn't need to watch him closely at all, he was trust worthy and great with bed side manner. However, she enjoyed watching him, enjoyed his company. So when he had offered to volunteer with her she was more than happy to let him join her. Sure, it was nice to have someone with the work load what with all of the extra assignments she had been given. But what she valued more was spending time with Elek. He was older than her by two years but they had still known one another for some time. Emmi liked Elek a lot and went out of her way to find reasons to spend time with him. What was even better about the arrangement was that it helped him. A smile touched her lips as she watched him send the youngling off.
"Thanks for letting me tag along." "No problem at all," Emmi said, pushing some of her hair back. Usually she kept her hair braided back when she was at work but this time she had left it down. She thanked him as he handed her her cloak. It was almost time for her shit to end and for the two of them to to go their separate ways. Elek looked past her at the clock and invited her to eat. Her face instantly brightened at the thought and she nodded enthusiastically. "Y-yes! Of course!" She quickly pulled her cloak on and put a few things in their place before leaving the examination room. They left the healing wing together, Emmi in high spirits and excited to finally have a moment with a friend. Those moments felt less frequent nowadays. Was this what knighthood was like? The thought exhausted her so she pushed it from her mind. "Do you have other plans tonight?"

There wasn't a silence between the two of them for even a second it seemed before Emmi was enthusiastically agreeing with him that she would be happy to join him for a meal. He smiled a little to her, nodding a bit as he stood back and let her take care of a few more things, rounding things up and putting them away; standing by the door with his arms folded patiently waiting for her. She pulled her cloak on as well before she turned to him, asking her next question as they were on their way out of the medical wing. "No, nothing really..." He replied, turning to face her a little more as they walked, continuing on the path to the Dinning hall.
After a short pause in conversation he spoke up again, shrugging a little. "What about you? Any plans?" He asked, his tone almost hopeful, but not that she would have somewhere to be, but more because he was hoping she had the rest of the night off for a change, not having to go to one of her other duties that she had taken on.
Elek was a little upset he wasn't as busy as her... being two years older then her and closer to knighthood made him feel as though he deserved to be doing more. He wanted to help people more then he was allowed, but he wasn't jealous of her in any way... if anything he was happy that she got to do these things where he didn't. She was a good strong and bright young girl and deserved it as much as he did... at the same time though he couldn't help but dwell, at least for a moment, on the fact he was held back because of his former master's fall to the dark side.
Still, something about Emmi made it impossible to hold it against her... and when he was around her he managed not to ever focus on those things as much as when he was alone. It was as if she had this way of calming him down that no one else did, and it was a trait that Elek appreciated... even admired in her, and really he didn't like it when they had to part ways, because it always meant he had to go back to being alone...

"No, nothing really..." Emmi smiled at that but couldn't quite bring herself to respond to it. She wanted to invite him to do something, what she wasn't sure. Her mind worked quickly as she tried to look for an excuse to invite him to do something with her. A short paused followed as she tried to find a way for the two to spend time together. However, he broke the silence by asking if she had any plans. Emmi didn't have plans, something she was a little bit relived about. She turned her head to look at him. "No, no plans," she answered and smiled as she gathered her courage. "But I wouldn't mind making some if you'd like." She peeked over at him from under her long lashes and red locks that fell along her face. Emmi unconsciously tried to make herself look more appealing to the young man.
Her attempts at flirtation halted as she sensed that Elek was...sad? Was that the right emotion she got from him? Emmi abandoned her attempts to woe Elek and shifted into distracting him from whatever was bothering him. She reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Why don't you show me around the gardens? I hear they have put some new plants in there," she offered him the opportunity to show her around something he was a somewhat expert in. "I always love it in there."

Emmi was quick to reply to Elek's own question when he turned it back to her, asking if she had anything planned for the night after they grabbed something to eat. He looked over to her, smiling a little bit as she explained that she wouldn't mind doing something with him for the night once they were done. He only smiled a moment, and was far too distracted to realize that he kind of liked the way she was looking at him.
They continued to walk, and it was then that he felt the hand resting on his shoulder, looking up once more to Emmi as she spoke again, suggesting they could go to the gardens after they were finished. She mentioned the new plants that had been brought in, and Elek nodded, giving a strong smile for her sake. "Yeah.. they put them in over near the west wing." Elek confirmed with a nod... he spent a lot of his time in the gardens sense he didn't get out much, but most of it was spent in his own secret spot which he had shared with Emmi already for a while now. Besides himself, she was really the only person who knew about the little hiding spot he had uncovered in the garden.
"After we eat we can go there and i'll show you... i healed one of the plants that almost didn't make the transplant." Elek explained after a moment, continuing to walk with her at his side as they made their way deeper into the Enclave in search for the eatery... a path Elek knew all too well.

"Yeah.. they put them in over near the west wing. After we eat we can go there and i'll show you... I healed one of the plants that almost didn't make the transplant." Emmi beamed, hearing Elek talk about the gardens. Under her former master's tutelage, she had spent a great deal of time in the gardens and learning about plants. He hadn't been a botanist himself but he had encouraged that interest in her. Her life was busy now making such trips difficult to come by. "I wish I could spend more time in the gardens," she admitted. "They're so peaceful and there's something wonderful about fostering life and helping things grow." Her smile softened as she thought about all the times she'd spent, hands in the dirt while her Master regaled her with stories about his youth. So many good things had happened in the gardens and walking through them brought them all back.
The two chatted a little more before reaching the dining hall. Emmi was quick to order herself a healthy but rather large meal. She had gone nearly all day without eating anything. The medical wing had been too busy and she was too distracted by Elek to pull away for lunch. Once she and Elek had their meals in hand they made their way to an empty table and took a seat. Emmi could feel her stomach cry out for food, it grumbling loudly. "I'm starving," she said with a slight chuckle before diving into the meal before her. As she ate she watched Elek, though tried to act like she wasn't. This quickly felt awkward to her and she swallowed hard. "How's your music coming? Write any new songs for me?" She was teasing him, of course, but she wanted to keep him talking about things he liked.

It seemed Emmi was in quite the opposite position as Elek was. She wished she had more time to spend in the gardens it seemed; meanwhile (though Elek loved the gardens himself) he wished he got away from the more often and did... something outside of the temple. He didn't even care what it was he did outside the temple any more as long as he actually got out of it. Still he couldn't help but smile a little at her enthusiasm and fondness, yet another of the many things the two of them shared and bonded over.
From that point they continued talking, it seeming mostly like Emmi was trying to keep Elek's mind off of what was bothering him. He didn't complain about it though, and it really was working because he was pretty much forgetting about all of his own problems now as they were able to just chat openly again while they made their way to the eatery.
When they did eventually make it, Emmi was picking up larger portions then normal, Elek chuckling a little at her comment with a small nod. "I asked you if you wanted to grab something to eat when i came in... i could have held down the fort for you to grab some food." He reminded her with a smile on his face while he slid into the bench across from her with his own trey of food. He got to work eating his own meal, a Nerf sandwich, some fruits but he was also treating himself with a slice of pie too. It was in the moment that he was taking his first few bites still that Emmi spoke up again, throwing him off just a little.
It wasn't because he thought she was flirting or teasing or anything. It was because he thought she was completely serious! How did she know he was working on one for her? It had been meant to be a surprise really, a sort of thank you for a few times when he had been sick recently and she had left him with some hand made get well cards and a basket of goodies to make him feel better. "Ummm... who told you?" He asked, tilting his head a little, slightly shocked and embarrassed she had seemingly found out. It was only after he looked up to her and saw her grin that he realized he was being an idiot and that she was in reality teasing him.
He hung his head in shame at the realization before shaking his head a bit, wondering if it was possible to sneak his way out of this time. "Um... really though i should. You deserve a song." He smiled up at her a little.

"Ummm... who told you?" Emmi had meant the comment only in good humor. She never expected that Elek would think she was serious. More than that she had no idea that he would write a song for her. Instantly her face turned red and she turned her attention to the salad before her. She scooped a few bits of it into her mouth as she attempted to regain some kind of composure. It had been a joke, and a bad one at that. But she couldn't allow herself to feel badly about it. Instead her mind thought about the fact that he was writing one for her at all. Maybe her feelings weren't as one sided as she had thought. The heart inside her chest began to flutter at the thought of it. Elek back peddled a little bit, trying to toss the whole thing off as a joke. Emmi was more than willing to let him do that. He's writing a song for me? For me?
"You don't have to," she waved the comment off with a polite smile. "It wasn't a suggestion, but thanks for thinking of me." Emmi ate a few more bites of food. As the food settled in her stomach she felt much better. The color returned to her face and she just seemed to feel better. It wasn't until that moment that she realized that she hadn't been feeling her best. And Elek's admittance about the song had her over the moon as far as her mood was concerned. "But it sounds like you have been working on your music. Anything interesting to report?"

He let out the smallest sigh of relief as it seemed Emmi was actually waving the idea of him writing a song off. He had just barely managed to get around that by the skin on his teeth, but something told him that she didn't actually believe his attempt to get around it. Either way he still had time it seemed to actually finish the song before he eventually presented it. Now all he could do is hope it wasn't terrible, or worse that it didn't make her feel bad. He smiled lightly at her when she mentioned him thinking of her. "Of course, don't mention it. My pleasure." He rambled all at once for a moment.
Of course after a moment Elek realized he had rambled, and actually said more then he had meant to but he hoped yet again she hadn't noticed. After a long moment of silence between the two of them, they both eating and picking at their food lightly in the awkward quiet, Emmi broke it and spoke, asking him about how his music was going. "eh..." He began slowly and distractedly. "Not much to say really. I come up with a thing or two now and again... but i think i'm running out of inspiration." He shrugged, not letting his eyes move from his plate.

Despite her efforts to talk about his music, it seemed that she had once again touched on a sore spot. Her smile remained on her face though in her head she chided herself for upsetting him again. She wished there was a way that she could help him feel more useful. Unfortunately there was little she could do in the way of getting him a new Master. All she could do was continue to offer him time to work with her in the medical wing. It wasn't like she could help him with his muse for music. Her knowledge of music was limited to what tidbits he had taught her and the singing she did in the shower. To fill the time she started to eat again, wanting to finish it so that she could go to the gardens with him. Elek had a secret spot there that she enjoyed spending time in-- so long as he was with her.
It was near her last bit of salad that an idea hit her over the head. Maybe there was something she could do to help him feel better. It meant getting out of the temple and even off of Dantooine. Just the other day she had been given the task of accompanying Master Kenobi on some kind of off-world field trip for a clan of younglings. It wasn't going to be an eventful mission, but the need to have a few older Jedi there to corral the children was highly necessary. She knew that they were looking for someone else to join her and at first she was going to suggest Jack but perhaps Elek was a better option. Not just to make him feel better but he was probably better equipped to deal with the younglings. Emmi's eyes brightened as she glanced up at him. "Hey, in a few weeks I'm going to chaperon a younglnig field trip with Master Kenobi-- they're looking for another Padawan to join and I was thinking that maybe you could join us," Emmi said it off handily as she chewed the last bit of food on her plate. "It sounds like it might be fun and I'd love to have an extra hand with the kids-- they can be a handful sometimes."

Things went pretty silent after he answered her question about him and his music. He hadn't really intended to kill the conversation on a down note like that, but that was his popular thing lately. He didn't seem to keep things in a positive note, it being only a matter of time before his time as a Padawan Ran out... not something that weighed easily on his mind. He followed her suit though as he continued to eat at his meal, though he stole a look up at her every now and again, just to admire her. Not something he would let her know he was doing of course. For the most part thought things were silent as Emmi ate from her salad and he worked on his own meal for a few moments.
Eventually though Emmi was the one who spoke up and cleared the silence as she began trying to brighten the mood. Already her attempt was working as he looked to her with a smile and listened. She went on to explain there was a mission, but not one that could possibly get dangerous, and definitely not one he would need a master's permission for. Watching Younglings for a day was something Elek already did anyway, so he was the perfect choice for an assignment like this.
He chuckled very lightly at the last comment and nodded. "Yeah they can be." He commented in agreement, though it was clear he certainly was interested in something like this. "Of course i'm interested though." He commented after a second, a smile showing on his features now. "Uh, should i talk to anyone about it?" He asked, having heard her mention Kenobi, whom Elek believed he recognized but wasn't entirely sure.
