Denova was a planet in the Ojoster Sector. It wasn't one of the bigger places, but mostly covered in mountains and woods. While there were no cities or villages to be found around, Denova was mostly famous with the mines of Baradium. It was a very valuable ore and would be selling for a nice price in the black market. An easy way to make more credits...
It was why Maul had his attention turned on Denova. With all the men he gathered recently, he made his way to this planet. Miners were taken hostage and the ore deposits were now being raided by his little group of mercenaries. He had every intention of rebuilding the Shadow Syndicate. This was going to prove a good and big step.
His men worked through emptying the collected ore from the stocks, carrying them to their big transporter ship. As they worked, the miners were being forced to dig in for more mine. That left Maul wander through the mines and check their work. His demeanor was calm and almost relaxed, as he walked around with hands behind. His cybernetic boots made crunching noises echoing through the mine walls.
The hostage miners who were being forced to work more were scared of his devilish looks, yet they had no choice in the end. Like a boss who was approving of his own work, Maul made it through a less crowded tunnel. Everything was going smoothly for once.

Xilaren was still amazed at the luck she had had in getting away from Darth Maul, she had been close to death a few times but each time she had escaped it from acting different than a normal Jedi would. The worse part was she had in fact enjoyed it, mostly because he didn’t act like she would expect anyone to act. Most men would have kissed her back or even bite her neck when she kiss and bit them; instead he just stood there and growled slightly which only urged Xilaren to go on.
It took a very daring act however by crashing the ship he was looking at for her to get away, and Xilaren knew that had ticked him off. Many would think she was just plan crazy however after only a week or show she was on the hunt once again to find him. She couldn’t help it something about him made hunting him just fun and interesting.
Her latest information told her that he had arrived on Denova and was currently forcing the miners to mind Baradium; an ore that would fetch him a good price and would allow him to do almost anything with it. So that was where Xilaren headed, landing on the planet it didn’t take long to find out what mine he was at and made her way there. Xilaren didn’t make her present known right away, she waited and watched for a moment but didn’t see Maul anywhere; though she knew he was there. It took her very little time to find out who the slave drivers were and the enslaved.
Removing her robes Xilaren jumped out from where she was hiding, her lightsaber activated and before most of them could realize what was going on she was slicing threw a few of maul’s men.

They didn't expect anyone attacking them since they managed to cut off the communication systems of the mine. There would be no help for those miners. But of course, that didn't mean Maul came here unprepared. In their line of job there was too much risks. And one would always need to be ready for anything. Maul never walked around without his sabers neatly clipped on his belt. But he didn't need any weapons to kill anyone. He was too well trained for the task.
His mercs were equipped with blaster rifles and some were trigger happy. Though, they were all obedient for their demonic boss; always waiting for his orders. But that didn't mean they would just stand there and do nothing, if a situation occurred.
The sudden appearance of the Jedi woman was certainly a situation. The pair of mercs who were guarding the mines spotted her first and they were quick to speak into their commlink in order to warn others for their unexpected guest. That meant more backup would be arriving at the mine's entrance soon. But firing already started, all were aiming for the woman with the lightsaber.

Xilaren expected to be shot at, after all she was interrupting them while they worked and most mercs didn’t enjoy that. Though they would good shot she was just slightly quicker in block it blast as she kept moving forward; though a few other blast just passed by her as she moved out of their ways. She was soon close enough to cut the ends of their guns off and then make a quick pass at their knees; not cutting their legs off but leaving wounds in the knees that made it hard to keep standing.
“A shame, and here I was hoping to be greeted by my new friend first.” Xilaren let out a loud sigh as if she was really disappointed. “Guess I’m just going to have to show myself in then, as you boys seem to be a little unable to at the moment.” Xilaren didn’t look back as she marched pass the two guarding the entrance to the mind. There was no doubt that Maul knew she was here now, if his goons hadn’t informed him first then he would feel her presents coming. The question was how many more men would he send before facing her himself. Hearing the sounds of heavy footsteps coming toward her, followed by blasting in her direction, Xilaren stood her ground ready to defend herself and fight threw however many men had decided to try their hand against a Jedi.

While the Jedi was putting the guarding mercs out of commission, the news spread in the mines. Everyone was getting ready for a fight, preparing their weapons. Some of the men seemed unhappy about their guest being a Jedi. But most of them was pretty sure they could shoot just anyone. It was an easy way to fight.
When the news hit Maul's commlink, he couldn't help with a predatory sneer. He had a feeling about this female Jedi being the same one he met not long ago, when he was hijacking a ship for selfish reasons. Maul wasn't sure what her interest in him. But he supposed he was able to grab attention of a good portion of Jedi scum due to his reputation. Maul was already making a name in this new time. Soon everyone was going to fear him.
"Don't take her down." Maul ordered his men sharply through the commlink, which pulled surprised reactions from most of them. It was a questionable order, indeed. But when he continued, they were sharing smirks in between. "She's mine to kill."
The mercs who faced the female Jedi afterward pointed their weapons at her. But no one took a shot at her. One humanoid hissed at her instead. "Boss wants to see you.... Personally." If she accepted, they would be escorting her to him. But if not, the Sith Lord -now a crime lord- was already on his way here.

Xilaren couldn’t help but smile as more mercs showed up to take her out, it was clear they didn’t know that their blaster though effect of many counted a little toward a Jedi. In fact as they started to enter the room she could tell that a few of them where not happy with the idea of having to face a jedi; while other seemed to think it a great treat to have someone to shoot at. Before the shooting could begin however, the mercs seem to have some steam let out as they point their guns at her but didn’t shoot. The reason was reviled to her a few seconds later as she was told their boss wanted to see her. “Well of course we have unfinished business together after all.” Xilaren deactivate her lightsabe and followed the men.
The deeper they went into the mind the more she could feel of the darkness there, not his from Maul but the pain and hopelessness that the miners had. There were sparks of hope from a few that she passed but many just doubted that she would be able to save them. As the group entered the opening where Maul was currently station, Xilaren stopped still a few feet away. “Maybe I should have called first, given you time to give me a proper greeting.” She gave him a bright smile, her lightsaber still in her hand ready for anything.

A few mercenaries surrounded the female Jedi and led her deeper in the mines, passing by fearing miners. None spoke to her, as she was being escorted to their leader. But they exchanged words in between each other. Some seemed to be excited for the upcoming fight they were about to witness, yet a few rare ones said something among the lines of boss' girlfriend.
Once they reached the rather large area, they could see Maul waiting there with his hands behind. He stood tall and devilish as always, his orange circles yellow eyes were staring at the sight of the she-Jedi. So he was right. It was that woman. He didn't even know her name, but that hardly mattered. She wasn't going to need one, when he was done with her.
"So it is you..." He said with a smooth, but rather devious tone. The presence of his men gave him a boost in confidence, yes. But it wasn't because he was relying on their strength and numbers in this case. Oh, no. He wanted to show off. He wanted to prove who was in control here. It was power play.
"Why are you following me, Jedi?" He asked, still not changing his position. But in the meanwhile, his men circled around them to watch the show. "What is it you want from me?" One would expect only animal-like growls and hisses from a man with his looks. But Maul was very surprising in that aspect. He could be a smooth talker, when he wanted to.

“Did you miss me?” Xilaren asked after his comment about it being her. She couldn’t help but smile as his men formed around them, as if they were going to watch a show and they were most likely right it would in fact be a show. She wasn’t worried about them at all instead her eyes were right on her target which was Maul. “It seems to me you owe me dinner, after all you were the one fill me up at our last meeting.” She made a sound of disapproval while shaking her head, the smile still on her face. “Trying to get to second base before we even got the chance to really know each other. Not that I can blame you really, with a body like mine and how ever long it’s been since you’ve really seen a woman I could understand how formalities might have slipped your mind just a bit.” Oh she was laying it on thick now, playing a rather dangerous game but she didn’t care her goal was to unsettle him a little. It was already working on his men for there were a few smiles and snickers.
“I can see you are wearing that bite mark with pride though, are you hopping I’ll give you another one? Or maybe you would like to give me one instead this time.” Xilaren had to admit she liked the idea of his teeth on her neck, she sent a slight thrill up her spin. Maybe because it would be dangerous, after all he could most likely rip her throat out with just his teeth.

There was no answer for the woman's first question. Of course, he did not miss her. No, he'd like to kill her. Then there came her mentions about owing dinner, feeling each other up and something called second base. Maul was more than displeased. This woman talking like this before his men... It was unforgivable. Though, then the she-Jedi had to comment on the bite mark which still remained on his neck. Last time she had buried her teeth so deep, the bruising even showed up over his tattooed neck. There was a healing mark of a set of teeth were still visible.
That made a few mercenary to whisper in between each other. One even elbowed the man next to him and spoke in a victorious way. "Told ya. She's his lady friend." With that, the merc opened his palm at his friend; motioning for receiving the money he well earned in a bet. His friend pressed a card to his hand in defeat.
Maul hissed at the Jedi, not enjoying where this conversation was going to. It was unacceptable to be marked... By a Jedi on top of that. It was pure humiliation for a Dathomirian. His kind always had a thing for domination and being marked was opposing that. "You are a crazy woman, Jedi. I give you that." He said with a growl and shifted his yellow eyes at her. He still didn't move for his weapons yet. But it was going to happen soon enough. "Thirsty for your own blood."

Xilaren watched his face after each one of her comments and wasn’t denied the pleasure of seeing how it bothered him slightly; though she had to admit the slight whisper of two of his men off to her side made her smile the most. She was undermining him slightly to his men right now, this would work slightly in her favor since if she had to fight his men they would not have their minds fully on attacking her. If she could get them to undermined Maul it would anger him and with hope leave him alone again. To have someone like him with his own little army of mercs was not really a good thing.
“I wouldn’t go so far as to call me crazy, eccentric might be a better word maybe even interesting; but at less I’m not boring.” Xilaren fired back when he called her crazy, oh she had heard that a few times and each time it only made her laugh. If she was crazy for the way she looked at life and for the way she handled things then she was willing to except that. “Oh I am Thirsty I’ll admit that, though I’m not a blood drinking kind of girl. If one of you nice gentlemen could be me some water now that would be lovely.” She was of course addressing his men, flashing those pretty green eyes at them though not fully expecting anyone to really get her the glass of water, but it didn’t really hurt her cause to make it seem as if she was right at home here.
Maul didn’t move for his weapons and Xilaren attention was back to him after batting her eyes a little. “Perhaps you’re the one that is thirty, though not for liquid but you wish I would have kissed your lips and not your neck.”

Either he didn't hear the men's words or simply ignored them, Maul's pure attention was on the Jedi. And the way she kept talking was really too much, too unexpected for the rest of the mercenaries. All she was talking about was things she wanted to do to Maul or the things she requested from him. But none of them really involved violence. Some of the mercs sounded rather disappointed about not hearing threats and battle cries already. But some were certainly enjoying the show, as if they were watching some drama series.
"Are you here for a fight or not?" Maul finally asked, after all the silent growling and show of teeth he had been making. "Did Kenobi send you after me?" He asked, wondering if the very man who ruined his life put this woman to his tail to chase him around and make his life more bitter.
Their first encounter had been nothing but the woman saying the things he didn't hear from anyone before. There was fighting, yes. But she ran away without actually putting any real harm on Maul. There was the marking on his neck, but that was just his pride being shattered.

Xilaren smiled when he asked if she was there for a fight or not, she was clearly getting under his skin with her words and it only convinced her to go on from there. So she didn’t answer him, she was of course ready for a fight as she had already proven that when she took out his two guards at the front of the mine, but she wanted him unhinged slightly first. Drive him crazy so he might lose some control and make bad choices when fighting her in order to give her the upper hand. But Xilaren really found she enjoyed teasing him, she didn’t know what it was but she really enjoyed it. Maybe it was because with other men they would most likely try to take her up on her offer; a few of then had tried once before. She might tease and give kisses; as well as love bites; away freely but Xilaren wasn’t really a loose woman.
“Kenobi, never heard of him. If you’re wanting him to join us I have to admit I don’t do the whole sharing in bed to well.” She was pretty sure however this Kenobi person was not a friend of Maul’s and most likely was someone he would love to rip to pieces.

The fire haired woman was taking his every word, twisting it and sending back at him in ways Maul didn't approve. Some of the mercs around them were grinning at this. But not all were taking this good. They didn't like to witness a comversation. That they preferred to see a real fight.
Maul couldn't help with a growl at the she-Jedi's words. So she didn't know of his arch-nemesis, was not sent by him. But that didn't change the fact Maul wanted to kill her. He ignored her twisted words, or probably didn't even get the true meaning of them in the first place. Either way the Dathomirian Sith Lord was displeased.
"You die now, Jedi." His right hand reached down to his utility belt, unclipping his saberstaff. It was actually his brother's. But Savage was gone. Dead. So Maul kept the weapon as a keepsake, perhaps showing a sentimental side for the first time in his life. Wrapping his long fingers around the hilt of the weapon, he rose it up in a rather fancy way; then flicked one side on. The crimson laser flashed into life, parallel to the ground. Then the second side came to life. It meant he was taking this seriously this time and he wasn't planning to hold back.

It was clear he didn’t’ like her words, which made her decide after this she was going to look up the man he had mention. Find out anything she could about Darth Maul would be a good idea, though right now it was clear she had to focus on defending herself instead. She let out a sigh and pulled out her own saber, though not activating it yet. “Must we really go through this same dance again, we could just skip this and go right to me biting the other side of your neck; or perhaps you like a love bit to your chest this time. Though if you would like that you’ll have to take your robes off again.” The smile was once again back on her face as she winked at him. “Body like yours after all shouldn’t be covered up.”
Maul didn’t just activate a single bladed saber this time, but a double blade which mean he was ready to get down to business and he wasn’t going to hold back at all. She would have to be quick if she was going to walk away from this alive; but she also had to hit the right nerves to try and throw him off a little. “I will warn you though my dear, you touch my chest or butt without buying me dinner first this time.” With a flick her lightsaber was activated.

Maul found the female's words insulting, when she spoke of marking him again. It was everything against his true nature. But he didn't make more hisses or growls at this point. Swinging his saberstaff in a perfect circle, he held his weapon before him in chest level.
"You aren't going to make it alive this time." He warned her, giving absolutely zero reactions for all the flirting he received from the other side. "You'll never make it out from this mine." Perhaps, this could be called as trash talk. But threatening his opponents was something Maul enjoyed to do. Especially this woman, since she was saying all kinds of improper things to him before his men. But once Maul cut off her tongue and bathed in her blood, they would see who was more powerful here.
Starting to approach at the Jedi with slow and steady steps, Maul kept swinging his saberstaff around him; dangerous and invasive.
