Overall Appearance:
Jareth Sharl is tall, and though he has every characteristic of someone who SHOULD appear imposing and sinister, someone who you shouldn't trust in a back alley, and yet he has an air of Charm around him as well. His long angular face, slicked back black hair and pale complexion all seeming to mix to a point that gives him a somehow trusting demeanor. That's not to say you should be fooled by his charming smile and actually trust him though.
Besides that his clothing tends to steer constantly towards the classical and elegant. He prefers something that appears to be vintage, and so being originally from the Clone Wars he fits relatively well into the Old Republic he now finds himself in. When he wore Jedi Robes, they were mixed with the different designs from the past, and once he began a member of the Separatists his trappings changed to a more royal look, mixing dark greens or Purples into the dark and black overtones. Whether it be a long coat, or and armored robe design though, it always seems to give him a classy feel.
PERSONALITY
There are many personality traits that follow Jareth. First and foremost is his air of mischief, perhaps the reason he never excelled in the Jedi Order. It is beaten only by his lust for knowledge and learning of the force, something that had driven him for the longest time. Despite these characteristics that seem to flaw him though, the undertone for Jareth is that he is a good man at his core. He may not always appear as such, but his reasons for being driven to the Dark Side were in fact to prevent a darker evil from corrupting the galaxy... At his core he wishes the best for the Galaxy, even if he has to take a dark path to achieve it.
Other elements of his personality that most notice to be prominent are his Elegance, his posture. He appears to be someone who could have been born into royalty, and many considered him to be a younger incarnation of Count Dooku himself. He is calm, loyal to a cause, and honorable. It may surprise some then that he is on the path to the dark side as much as he is. Despite all of this, he does have his own motive, which he is always looking to achieve, and though he may find reasons to aid you, he is probably looking for what he can get from you at the same time as well.
His silver tongue and smooth talk tend to win fights for him before they begin, though he's not above a fight altogether either...
BACKGROUND
Planet Origin: Raxus Secundus (Separatist Capitol)
Era Origin: Clone Wars
History:
Birth
Jareth was born into a rather well off family on Raxus Secundus; a planet that would in the future be the capitol of the Separatists armies during the Clone Wars. At his birth though it was still in the Republic, and so it wasn't hard for him to be brought into the Jedi Order. He was Discovered early enough into his life that he has no recollection of his original family, though he is told that he had siblings and an aristocratic heritage. Other then this he knew nothing of them growing up in the Jedi Order. Still it kept his young mind wondering what his life would have been like, even if the Jedi Told him not to focus on such things.
From an early age it was clear that his skills focused more on the academics rather then the more physical traits that were a part of a Jedi's life style. Instead of athletics, acrobatics and lightsaber skill, he displayed a set of much rarer skills; being studious, displaying a measure of control over the force, and an impressive ability to retain knowledge. Of course the problem that came from this was that he was picked on by the younger Jedi being labeled a bookworm. This of course lead to his first, less desirable trait. To combat all of the grief he received for his love of knowledge, he began learning small tricks that he could use on the other students, turning to trickery when they would pick on him in order to humiliate them. He in turn became a bit of a trickster in his spare time. His tricks weren't localized to just other younglings, but knights and masters all throughout the order fell victim to various pranks from time to time. Over time his tricks weren't just practical or physical, but force based as well... being able to produce small images here and there.
Thirst for knowledge
It was because of his cunning and mild temper that actually gained him a master early on. Instead of the younger Jedi who displayed the ever growing traits of impatiences and aggression, Jareth seemed like a breath of fresh air for some masters in the Jedi order. And so under the master of the name Laxus Noom, his training flourished. Where his skills in lightsaber combat used to be lacking, he began making up for them, and his use of the force became just as skilled as any other Padawan. In fact his unorthodox fighting often proved a challenge to other Padawans of his same skill level.
As a Padawan he would accompany his master on many a mission, though it was his skill with tricks that proved to be the most useful on missions that otherwise could have caused problems. Jareth and his master often went on missions involving negotiations of some kind, and whether it be a curious group of travelers that he entertained with his tricks, or a distraction to allow an underhand tactic (something frowned upon by his master) Jareth was always looking for an opportunity to use his powers. On one particular boarder dispute in which he and his master could have been trapped, Jareth caused the people in the room to believe there was a toxic gas leak in the room, clearing it so that he and his master could get some files that they needed, and then vanish in the following confusion.
Clearly then his master saw both a great potential in Jareth, but also a great pitfall. On the one hand it was a rare skill that Jareth possessed among the Jedi, but on the other it was a skill set and his use of it that were often used for more devious purposes... something Laxus didn't want festering in his Padawan. Despite his every attempt though, Jareth always remained mischievous.
As he neared the years for his Jedi trials and Knighthood, Jareth continued to display a thirst for knowledge that few others did, and spent much of his time in the Libraries in order to study further then he was required to. It was his biggest recreational pass time, And it was here that he began a festering love of things in the past. Including things related to a certain Darth Revan, and stories, and artifacts related to him. It was also during this time that he began pursuing the path of a Jedi Archaeologist, him being able to take the occasional mission with other Jedi Archaeologists from the temple.
It was a good start for him, and something he very much enjoyed. It took them across the galaxy, and Jareth made a few friends that he was close to that he could travel anywhere with. As a Padawan he wasn't traditionally allowed to travel alone on missions, but as one of few Archaeologists... along with rarely coming into any overly dangerous missions, he was allowed to partake in them with his other Padawan Archaeologist friends quite early on. It also so happened to be on one of these missions that he showed one of his worst slips into his darker side.
In a mission with his best friend in hopes of finding Darth Revan's journals related to Manaan, but it failed in the long run when the artifacts proved to be something else entirely. It was still a valuable holochron from Revan's era, and Jareth wished to learn from it, but when his friend was captured by pirates hoping to collect a bounty on Jedi, Jareth was left with the choice between his friend or the artifact. Jareth surprised many that day when he picked Revan's holochron over his best friend... losing his friend to the pirates when they took him away. It was then that Jareth escaped, using the holochron to learn what he could before he took it back to his home world, finding some money related to his name. He Then created a storehouse for himself where he would travel to in order to leave artifacts that he didn't wish the Jedi to receive.
When he returned to the Temple, he told the council that his friend had been taken by Pirates. The council were unable to find Jareth at fault, him having become such a crafted liar by this time that he was hard for them to read. When they searched for the missing Padawan, they were unable to find him as Jareth didn't mention anything related to the band of pirates that had kidnapped him. No one knew of Jareth's betrayal of his friend, but some might have suspected it.
For the remainder of his Padawan years Jareth would continue to take artifacts back to his personal stash, most of them all related to Revan, but he had many, many other things of important note. When he eventually received the rank of Knight, he was able to continue on missions alone, the things he collected gathering faster then.
Clone Wars & rebirth
When the clone Wars Broke out and the Separatists claimed Raxus Secundus as their capitol, Jareth very much panicked. His storehouse was now in enemy territory, and Jareth had no safe way to get there. It didn't stop him though, from working his way out there on his own time. When he arrived on the planet he set to work attempting to get his precious artifacts off the planet, But Dooku had noticed him. Jareth was taken captive himself this time, and brought to Dooku's castle. It was there that Dooku began trying to turn Jareth to the dark side... quite effectively.
Dooku used his wild card to his advantage, informing Jareth that the Dark Lord of the Sith was in control of the Senate of the Republic. It was the same method he had used on Obi-Wan Kenobi back on Geonosis, but with Jareth it worked. Jareth believed him, and upon learning of Palpatine's True identity, turned on the Republic and the Jedi in order to help Dooku over throw him, as was always the plot with a Sith. Jareth's goal wasn't for power though, it was to get Palpatine and the taint of the Sith out of the Republic.... though ironically that would require that he would gain power to do so. He believed then, and so did Dooku, that his artifacts could be used to grow in power, enough possibly to kill Palpatine.
Jareth never got to test this Hypothesis though, as before he did any fighting or searching for nay more relics, he was plucked from his world, and thrown back into a time he instantly recognized as that of Revan's own time. It was almost like living a dream, as he was able to live the same life and in the same time that he had been in a sense pursuing all of his life. He hardly had to adjust at all, and already he looks for the things he knows hidden in relation to Revan... though now his goal is to find the living legend.
